Muriwai Scenic Morning Wine Tour

9am-12.15pm

Visit the Auckland West coast black sand surf beach settlement of Muriwai and see the Gannet Colony. Try a range of award winning wines from Nobilo, Kim Crawford and Matua Wines Then visit Beesonline to taste their amazing Manuka and flora honeys.

This morning tour picks up inner city and immediately wisks you out to the market garden and lifestyle areas of Kumeu and Huapai. Huapai in Maori translates as “the place of excellent fruit” which isn’t surprising given the abundance of plums, blueberries, strawberries, apples and of course grapes grown in the region. You’ll be taken through beautiful rolling sheep and cattle country out to Muriwai, a seaside enclave popular with surfers and famous for its black sand beaches. Here you can watch the Gannets throughout the year courting, mating and rearing their young preparing them for the winter migration.

Then enjoy a tasting from the outstanding selection of varietals & blends at Matua Valley Wines. Matua  Valley Wines was the first wine company in New Zealand to produce Sauvignon Blanc in Waimauku. They also produce excellent Chardonnay, Riesling, Pinot Gris, as well as Cabernet blended reds, Syrah /Viognier and Pinot Noir

Sample from the award winning ranges of Nobilo,  Selaks and Kim Crawford wines at the House of Nobilo cellar door

Finally visit Bees Online. Try the different New Zealand flora honeys made from Alpine Borage, Manuka, Rata, Rewarewa, Pohutakawa and Clover. They also produce the highly sought after  graded Active UMF Organic Manuka honeys famous around the world for their medicinal properties. Here they also have a wide range of honey related products like bee pollen capsules, face creams and supplements.
