Matakana Coastal Scenic Getaway

Visit the picturesque wine making region of Matakana. Sample cheese at the Puhoi Cheese factory. See native  forest and  giant tree ferns. See an 850 year old Kauri tree and sample delicious  indigenous flora honeys.

Head North to the picturesque region of Matakana. A market garden vineyard and farming region, this tour takes you through the coastal seaside resort town of Orewa and Waiwera Mineral Springs.

Drop into Historic Puhoi township or sample some blue cheeses from the Puhoi Cheese Company. Enjoy a tasting at Ransom Wines. Enjoy a tasting and an open menu one course lunch with tea/coffee at Ascension Vineyard restaurant or Plume Vineyard Restaurant.

In the afternoon enjoy a tasting at either Ransom or Omaha Bay wines. On the way home stop and see an 850 year old Kauri tree and finally sample some native flora honeys at the New Zealand Honey Centre.

They have an excellent range of Honeys and honey related products including chocolate, pollen, propolis, royal jelly mead, skins creams and health supplements. See the bees in the wall hives and you are able to purchase the UMF Manuka Factor Honeys
