We wanted to do a wine tour in Auckland and the concierge at our hotel suggested we do John's tour. Boy, are we glad we did!! We chose the afternoon tour which included the black sands beaches. John picked us up at our hotel and our adventure began. We visited 3 different wineries and had a wonderful lunch at one of them. The wineries were great - one of them was the home of my favorite sauvignon blanc (Kim Crawford), but the wineries were only a part of the experience. John took us to 2 lookout points that were breathtaking and drove to areas we never would have seen elsewhere. John's expertise about wine is impressive, but his knowledge (and love) of Auckland is even more. As I said in the title, if you go to Auckland you MUST take a tour with NZ Winepro. It was the highlight of our time in NZ.

My husband and I have toured wineries throughout the world. John is definitely the most knowledgeable, interesting, fun and funny tour guide we have ever had.  We had not seen my brother in 45 years as he has lived in NZ.  John worked with him to set up an all-day tour which covered the west and east coasts.  We visited 3 wineries where all the owners know him and he did all the tours himself! After a marvelous patio lunch, we visited the black sand beaches  and saw a Gannett colony. We were so amazed by John's personable warmth and interest in wineries and were astonished by his thorough knowledge. He definitely loves his work! My husband has collected wine in his cellar for years and he even learned some new things.  We later took a 2 week cruise around NZ and Aus..  We attended 2 winery tours: one excursion through 3 wineries in Hawke's Bay and one in Yarra Velley,Melbourne.  The tour guides were nice, but they paled in comparison to John. I have not been paid to say all these wonderful things about John.  We truly had a very special experience which we will remember forever!

We spent a very enjoyable and long morning with John, visiting --- amongst other places --- the Villa Maria winery in Auckland.  The tour of the winery was pleasant and the anti pasta they served with the wine tastings was something right out of Italy.  Great cold cuts, cheeses, olives, peppers, crusty Italian bread in such abundance that we didn't need lunch.  And John was so informative and personable. Just a joy to be with.  He obviously likes what he does and this makes the time with him so pleasant.  Thanks to the consiege at the SkyCity Grand for recommending NZWinepro.

I've been there a few times. They actually have some very good wines, lpleciasey a couple of their Syrah vintages. They hosted a wine harvest festival a couple of years ago, really a nice event with tours, a dinner, entertainment and some celebrities, including of course Nun Woranuch who is now married to the owner's son.
